"I have been a customer of Broadripple heating for over 30 years. I’ve noticed since that they were acquired by service experts each time I have a tuneup they are recommending I purchased additional services or upgrade equipment. eight years ago I needed a new system and installed a $20,000 unit. Last week during my usual fall winter tuneup the ““ technicians.” told me that major elements were damaged by leaks and cracks. They stated I was at a health risk from carbon monoxide and that I require a new system with a cost between $27,000-$30,000. With the unit being only eight years old and Lennox, the manufacturer, noting that the lifetime of these units is 15 to 20 years I was surprised that it had failed. The two men who came to my home, presented me with multiple options for replacing the unit. I subsequently learned that one of them was a sales person when I questioned him about the need for replacement he insisted that he did not work on commission and that he was doing the best for me. Frankly, I did not trust them and was planning on switching companies when the current surface contract was up. I had another company come out, Peterman’s and they spent one hour completely inspecting the unit both air-conditioning and heating. The technician told me that it unit was functioning perfectly well and there were no health risks. Since Broadripple was required by service experts, I have seen many comments about predatory salesmanship I would caution anyone who has Den told that their equipment is in need of replacement get another opinion before purchasing it. I am older, but not stupid and I feel the sales person thought that they could convince me that I need to spend up to $35,000 to repair something that was in perfectly good working condition."
